I picked up the Karen Traviss novels Hard Contact and Legacy of the Force: Bloodlines the other day. I hope to get some free time to read them soon. For those of you who have read them, did you like them?

*No spoilers please*

Yes :)

I even played a scenario of SW p&p RPG which was very much inspired by the Hard Contact. I played as Fi :P

i bought all of them on release and read them from cover to cover many times, they are a great story, though it tatters on love a little much but it doesn't skimp on action.

Bloodlines might be hard to follow without reading the rest of the LOTF. Also keep in mind that the Fate of the JEdi come out this week and the Mando's are going KGB.

First, as a note, I started the Legacy of the Force novels by reading Bloodlines first and everything still made perfect sense. Even if you only read the books in the LotF series that KT wrote, it still makes sense.

Bloodlines and Hard Contact are both amazing. I got Hard Contact a few weeks after it came out and read it in about 2 days - one of the best books I've read, and the series just gets better with Triple Zero and True Colors. I plan on ordering Order 66 in a couple days. Really Hard Contact is what started the Mandalorian culture more than anything else.

Both are amazing books, and I wanted to read bloodlines first before the first LOTF book because it has boba fett in it and hard contact kicks ass.

Happy reading.

I haven't read any of the LotF series at all, but as a fellow mando-fan, I can attest that you are in for a treat with Hard Contact.

I've read Hard Contact-Order 66 they are very good as for bloodlines it is confusing without reading the other parts of the series but it fills in an ending piece for the Clone Commando books if u catch it its simple but i got a kick out of it and it also explains more about Boba and the effects of him being a clone which is cool

Both of them are amazing books that I have read multiple times each. The only bad thing is that in LotF they rotate between 3 authors so the bloodline plot sort of skips around in the series as most of the books don't feature that particular plot line. They're still both great though.

I bought Hard Contact after playing the star wars Republic commando game.
At first I was a little disappointed that the book wasn't about delta squad. But after getting into the book I found it very entertaining, man I need to read that book again.

I'm working on it. I have two weeks of undergraduate schooling left and after that its smooth sailing. I'll be able to read whatever I want. This semester though I've been averaging about 500-600 pages of reading a week. Reading something outside of class assignments is not a possibility. :(

I just finished Order 66. Awesome fucking book. Absolutely awesome. I cannot wait until the new Imperial Commando novel comes out.

I didn't think so, since it's not really an ending. The story must continue, and it's all set up for what I hope is another excellent novel :)

After reading Hard Contact, I was disappointed that the Republic Commando game wasn't about Omega squad.

Playing as Omega would have been boring... from the get go all your squad mates would die... yay... what fun...

I believe that Karen Traviss's books are some of the most creative STAR WARS books written, and that she is very creative in her work.

I agree. She's one of the only authors that is willing to delve deep into an unknown culture and create a new, complex one. Zahn did it with the Chiss, and a couple of them did it for the Yuuzhaan Vong, but that's about all that I can think of.

You forgot to state that the Chiss and Yuuzhan Vong suck compared to the awesomeness of Mando'ade ;)

Ok, i recommend u read all Republic Commando books b4 u get into LotF. There is a lot of tie-ins between the books even though they are like 50 years apart.

I don't think there are that many. There's Jaing, Jusik, and Venku, but that's it. Oh, and there's the strill. But you don't really need to have read the RC books to know what's going on. It's explained in the LotF series.

All the RC books are great, I've re-read them multiple times! The sequal to "Hard Contact" which is "Republic Commando, Triple Zero" has a Basic to Mando'a dictonary in the back, which is handy to have. As of now, the Series is "Hard Contact" "Triple Zero" "True Colors" and "Order 66". As for Bloodlines, it takes place after the defeat of the Empire, and has Han Solo and Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett in it. Anyhow, I highly reccomend them.

The Republic Commando series is done, but Karen Traviss is making an Imperial Commando series. The first book, which I believe will be called 501st, will come out later this year. Her books in the Legacy of the Force series, Bloodlines, Sacrifce, and Revelation, are also pretty good. Bloodlines is more about Boba Fett and has less of a focus on Mandalorian culture, but the rest have more.

I decided to pick up the first three books and have so far gotten through Hard Contact and Triple Zero. Have to say they are great books.
