Background:
Darka is the reluctent Leader of Force Academy, after the dissappearence of the Academys Grand Master Cevit Eage.
Grudgingly taking up the mantle when a time for action and decision was needed. Seen to some as a saviour, Darka feels uneasy about his new position, attempting to fill a positon, and a legacy left by their old Master.
Before his rise, Darka had joined the Academy at a late age after a chance encounter with Master Eage.
Spening most of his life before that working as a bounty hunter, smuggler and anything that would really bring him the credits to survive. Darka made a succesfully living in the Underworld of the galaxy.
It was during his time working his way up, he gained a reputation as someone who got the job done. Darka began to have greater anticipation during hunts, being able to predict what would happen, and feel where his marks were hiding. Thinking it as nothing, he ignored it, putting it down to fine tuning of his skills and nothing more.
During his time in the underworld, Darka managed to build up a strong list of contacts, which would prove invaluble in the years ahead, linked at one time to be working with The Galactic Irregulars a group of mercenarys known for their over the top nature, strange humour, and a fighting force many claimed were Second to none!
It was his enocunter with Master Eage, a wise old friendly Jedi that opened his eyes to the ways of the force. It wa sunder him, Darka entered the Academy to begin his training. As time passed Darka was able to fine tune his instinct and become one with the force, embracing what had once been discarded thought. Proving himself resouncful and knowledge able, Darka soon gained the respect of his peers, and was looked upon as a leader, a wise head for someone so young.
The things he had seen, the things he had done in his past, were both acknowledged, and subdued within him.
The new found respect and position at first was welcome, he knew his place, and started to watch over the Academy as its Defender, informing, teaching, correcting and helping all that needed it at the Academy. He was satisfied, and content.
It was not until the dissapearence of Master Eage that things started to change, the Academy became a different place, prehaps brought on by the arrival of the Sith, prehaps it was the departure of many close friends over the years, the changing of the guard he called it. Whatever it was he couldnt put his finger on it.
Arguments broke out, ideals were questioned, friendships broken, words were said behind backs, the Academy was crumbling. Without word from Master Eage, the worst was expected. Some wanted to wait for his return, other left, hopes crushed seeking to find something else out there in the galaxy, many were never heard from again.
It was decided by a council of elders, those who were looked upon and respect to decide the fate of the Academy with the absence of Master Eage. A deadline was set, Master Eage being a strong, powerful Jedi would make contact if he could, no one had felt his passing in the force, so there was hope he was still alive.
It was the day of the deadline, and Master Eage appeared.
Standing outside the Academy temple he spoke:
I am only a shade of my former self.
Actually, you do not see me, i am not here
And with that he was gone, vanished.
With that Darka decided to take action, to refrom and embrace the Academy. It had been a dark time, and many welcomed the new direction, however one old friend began to resent Darkas new position. In what had been an attempt to do what was best for the Academy, ethics were questions, and Darka was accused of betraying what the Academy had stood for and simply turning his back on Master Eage.
In the time that followed, the Academy did it hard, Darka did too. Attacks by a former friend who felt Darka unbfit to be the leader, and claimed that he, and he alone new what was right, and was unwillingly to help. A friendship was broken, an another old friend bowed out into the sunset to see what the galaxy needed.
Suddenly he was all alone.
The rebuilding took time, a new batch came to the Academy like it always seemed to do, the guard changed, the Academy had its place, but doubt still nagged him. Oftern questioning himself, his decisons, slightly paranoid, that his efforts were doing harm rather then doing good.
In recent feeling the strain of Leadership, Darka began to step back, the Academy once strong, with many leaders, had become dormant again, feeling the weight of the galaxy upon him, he stepped back. There were always the faithful, the wise Masters of the Academy, but Darka felt things had changed, was the Academy the same place he had joined all those years ago? sometimes he felt it was not.
Now, questioning himself, he seeks to redeem himself, and rebuild the Academy to its strength in a time of need, in this time of galactic darkness....
It was time for his legacy to continue....
