The sole purpose of this thread is to gather information on release date speculation, and to separate fact from fiction. This post will be held to update information as it becomes available.

I think Norko figured out when it would be released somewhere in Q2 2010 by the pattern of updates.

yup, I did... only bioware has been a little late with the reveals recently... I guess we'll get like to reveals at the same time when they start picking up the pace.

it's really hard to say where this game stands with release. The video's and what not that they are showing us look preeetty polished compared to what we were seeing at this same time with SWG. I'm almost sure that it will come out early next year.

Nork, would you care to explain how you came to your conclusion based on update releases? Sounds pretty cool if it's true.

I've calculated the time between each update based on the same subject, normally there's seven weeks between a planet reveal and another planet reveal, class reveals and another class reveal, etc etc.

but since this is the convention period it's kind of screwed up xD

there has also been one time between two class reveals that took 5 weeks. but it normally is 7 weeks.

And ontop of the fact that Bioware is going to release two games before they will release ToR; one being MassEfect. MassEfect comes out Q4 of 2009 and the other game comes out Q1 of 2010 so Norko and I think based on this and a couple other things that Q2 for ToR is most likely to happen.

I think you have those backwards, Shi. Dragon Age comes out in Q4 of 2009 and Mass Effect 2 comes out Q1 2010.

I still need to play through Mass Effect. I got it and Fable 2 around the same time and got addicted to Fable.

I'm playing through Mass Effect right now. I'm about 12hours in! Its a heck of a lot of fun and is full of Bioware's usual awesomeness.

I think we all were hoping for Q4 09, but there has been no beta yet. Since there is no beta as of yet, the chances of it being released in 09 aren't good at all.

I think we all were hoping for Q4 09, but there has been no beta yet. Since there is no beta as of yet, the chances of it being released in 09 aren't good at all.


Don't get me wrong Q4 of 2009 would be amazing! but.. I don't think that it is posible.. I could be wrong. We will know a lot more at GamesCom.. which is this week :D

Is it possible to beta test something internally only? Or go completely with an alpha style testing pattern?

I know public betas are very common, but I have taken part in private betas that I only found out from the companies in question. Admittedly, never a game, and never something this size.

Well, they'll probably do a closed beta test, but even that probably won't be completely internal. Most MMOs do an open beta close to the release date. The thing with MMOs is they're so big that it's easy for them to not notice bugs until the game starts, because that's when they'll have a large number of people trying to do things they wouldn't have thought of trying.

Makes sense. I was in the Tabula Rasa Beta from the beginning. I LOVED that game. Admittedly a lot of other people didn't...

We found more ways to break a game...

SWG Did a selected beta 6 months and then opend it to the public about 2 months before release.

as much as i would like a Q4 09 im kinda glad the speculation is mid to late 2010. gives me more time to save up for a computer that can run it really well :D
